What Is Beat Structure?

Beat structure is the planned sequence of attention events in a script (hooks, re-hooks, reveals, complications, payoffs), spaced so the viewer never goes 30–45 seconds without a reason to stay. The standard skeleton for a 10-minute faceless video has 15 beats in five acts: contract (hook, stakes, roadmap), build, turn, payoff, and exit bridge. Retention graphs fall at boredom gaps; beats are the pre-emptive fix, placed where the graph would otherwise cliff.

Why it matters for faceless channels

Beats turn "write a good script" into a checklist. The full skeleton and template are in the 15-beats post, and each of Unfaced's 64 formats carries its own beat structure.
