What Is RPM?

RPM (revenue per mille) is the total revenue a creator earns per 1,000 video views after YouTube's revenue share, including ads, YouTube Premium watch time, memberships, and Supers. It differs from CPM, which is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions before the platform's cut; RPM is always lower than CPM for the same video. In 2026, typical long-form RPMs run $1–$5 in most niches and $6–$20 in finance and business, while Shorts usually land at $0.07–$0.20 RPM.
