How Much Do Faceless YouTube Channels Actually Make? (Real 2026 Numbers)
Aggregated 2026 earnings data for faceless YouTube channels: RPM by niche and country, Shorts vs long-form reality, and the math at 10k, 100k and 1M views.

Every "faceless YouTube" video on YouTube itself promises the same screenshot: $10,000 months, passive income, laptop on a beach. Almost none of them show the denominator. Faceless channel earnings are a range, and that range is shaped almost entirely by three variables you can measure before you publish anything: your niche's RPM, your format (Shorts vs long-form), and your audience's country mix.
This post collects the numbers that are actually documented (published RPM datasets, platform thresholds, and disclosed creator earnings) and runs the math honestly at three channel sizes. Where a number is an estimate, it's labeled as one. Where it's sourced, the source is linked. For the full country-by-country and niche-by-niche Shorts breakdown, see our companion Shorts RPM data post.
The three numbers that decide your earnings#
1. RPM (revenue per mille). What you actually keep per 1,000 views after YouTube's 45% cut. Documented 2026 ranges: long-form RPM runs $1–$5 in most niches, climbing to $6–$20 in finance, business, and B2B tech; Shorts RPM runs $0.07–$0.20 in most niches. AIR Media-Tech's dataset pegs US Shorts RPM at $0.328 and German Shorts RPM at $0.163, roughly 3–14% of equivalent long-form rates (AIR Media-Tech). Faceless channels don't get a special RPM: a faceless finance channel earns finance RPM; the model affects cost structure, not ad rates.
2. Monetized view share. Not every view is monetized: Shorts feed views earn almost nothing per view, ad-blocked and non-skippable-ineligible views earn zero, and watch-page views in low-ad-demand countries pay cents. Working assumption for planning: 40–70% of long-form views generate meaningful ad revenue.
3. Audience geography. A US/UK-heavy audience earns 2–4× the RPM of a global-average audience. This is also why localized German and French channels matter: German ad rates sit well above global averages even if below the US.
The earnings math at three sizes (long-form, mid-RPM niche)#
| Monthly views | Low RPM ($2) | Mid RPM ($4) | High RPM ($12, finance/business) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100,000 | ~$200 | ~$400 | ~$1,200 |
| 500,000 | ~$1,000 | ~$2,000 | ~$6,000 |
| 1,000,000 | ~$2,000 | ~$4,000 | ~$12,000 |
The same table for a Shorts-only channel at $0.15 RPM: 100k views ≈ $15, 1M views ≈ $150, and you need ~6.7M monthly Shorts views to match what 100k long-form views earns in a mid-RPM niche. This is the math the "post 3 Shorts a day" gurus never show: Shorts are a discovery engine, not a revenue engine (full breakdown).
The revenue stack beyond ads#
Channels that reach real income rarely do it on AdSense alone. The typical mature faceless-channel stack, in order of when it unlocks:
- AdSense: unlocks at YPP (1,000 subs + 4,000 watch hours, or 10M Shorts views in 90 days, per YouTube Help); note the reported threshold-doubling planned for February 2027 that we track here.
- Affiliate revenue: viable from ~10k subs in niches with products (finance tools, software, books); routinely equals 50–200% of AdSense in high-RPM niches.
- Sponsors: from ~50k subs; faceless channels land sponsors on audience demographics, not creator charisma, so a strong media kit matters more than a face.
- Digital products & channel sales: templates, courses, or flipping the channel itself; faceless channels are sellable assets precisely because no face is attached.
What "realistic" looks like on a timeline#
Going by disclosed creator trajectories, a well-run faceless channel publishing weekly long-form typically reaches YPP in 4–8 months, crosses $500/month in months 8–14, and $2,000+/month in year two, if retention holds above ~40% average view duration and the niche RPM is at least $3. Channels optimized for automated volume cluster at the other end: most never monetize, and those that do often hit the inauthentic-content review wall (policy explainer). The boring truth: faceless YouTube is a 12–24 month build to meaningful income, with production costs near zero and the bottleneck entirely in script quality and retention.
